As unbelievable as it sounds, this year marked the five year anniversary of A Night to Remember.  Each year, around February or March, invitations are sent out.  The event "sells out" within an hour.

When the date arrived, all were greeted with a 1978 Laurent Perrier Cuvee Grand Siecle and a 1978 Moet & Chandon Dom Perignon served with Prosciutto roll pate, bacon wrapped shrimp and grape tomatoes.  The second course, seared Hawaiian Ahi over sticky rice, garnished with watercress, ginger, seaweed and cavier went well with some White Burdgundy, a 1982 Lafon Domaine Des Comtes Meursault Perrieres, a 1982 Lafon Domaine Des Comtes Meursault Charmes, a 1999 Domaine de Montille Puligny Montrachet Le Cailleret, and a 2000 Domaine Joseph Drouhin Corton Charlemagne.

To some Californian Chardonnay's that included a 1999 Paul Hobbs Walker Station, a 2002 Peter Michael Belle Cote, a 2001 Kistler Vinehill and a 1999 Holloran Le Pavillon from Oregon.  These Chardonnay's were offered with Sweetbreads Ris-de Veaux A la Creme in a Cecheamel sauce.

And as in years past, back to France to partake in some wonderful Red Burgundy, a 1985 Bouree Chambertin, a 1989 Rouseau Chambertin, a 1990 Leroy Clos de Vougeot and a 1990 Faiveley Clos de Beze.

The old world reds were served with a medley of mushrooms, a Morrell, Blue Foot, Porcini and a Hen of the Woods.

The fifth course included Quannard with roasted pumpkin seeds and mole sauce that paired well with two Oregon Pinot Noirs, a 1999 Broadley Claudia's Choice and a 2001 Bergstrom Cumberland Reserve.  After a short excursion outside with a 1983 Lafon Santenots du Milieu Volnay and a 2002 Parker Family Vineyards Dijon Clone Pinot Noir, a Mango Sorbet was waiting table side.

The group moved to the next course, a fine assortment of cheese that included a St. Marcellin Curtet Fromagerie, a Berger Roquefort Raw Sheep Blue, a Camembert le Chatlain, and a Laguiole French.  The cheese went splendidly with a 1982 Ch. Pavie, a 1970 Ch. Gruaud Larose, and a 1979 Ch. Mouton.

Back to some California reds with a Filet of Australian Kangaroo - yes, that's what you read.  The Cabernet Sauvignon's included a 1987 Dunn, a 1985 Mayacamus and a 1982 Caymus Special Selection.  Dessert was served with a 1970 Ch. Climens Sauternes, a 1938 Massandra White Muscat from the Ukraine, a 2002 Parker Family Zinfandel Port and a 1977 Fonseca Vintage Port.
